PANJIM: Nine candidates will contest the by-elections to three wards of different village panchayats. The by-polls are scheduled on July 2, from 8 am to 5 pm.
There will be a straight fight between Maria Santana Rodrigues Sequeira and MinguelinaCarvalho in Ward II of Dramapur-Sirlim Village Panchayat while triangular battle will be witnessed between Amrish Shet, Hemant Shet and Ramanand Chodankar in Ward V of Parcem.
Ajit Morajkar, Amir Chandroji, Arjun Chandroji and Pradeep Polji will contest in Ward VII of Parcem Village Panchayat.
In all, 10 candidates had filed their nomination papers but Audhoot Sawant withdrew his nomination from Ward V of Sant Estevam Village Panchayat.
The Ward VII of Parsem and Ward II of Dramapur-Sirlim panchayats fell vacant following resignations of Rohan Polji and Roque Santana Masarenhas respectively while, by-poll in Ward V of Sant Estevam Village Panchayat was necessitated due to death of Ajay Tari.
