9 non-existent houses identified in Bethora panchayat area

Despite no physical structure, these ‘houses’ have been allocated numbers

PONDA: In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that nine houses at Bondbag in Survey No.128, registered in local Bethora panchayat, and allotted house numbers, actually don’t exist.

The incident came to the fore after locals randomly inquired about the houses, since one person was preparing to build a house a few days ago. In fact, one person has also taken Enable House Numbers (EHN) for two houses.

Locals are suspecting foul play in the matter. Since the land on which these houses are registered, belongs to Bethora Comunidade, it has shocked the Comunidade’s officials, who have begun to gather information from the Information Officer at panchayat office.

Apart from the officials, some of the locals have begun gathering information from the panchayat office in order to lodge a formal complaint.

Bethora panchayat’s sarpanch, Madhu Khandeparkar was unavailable over the phone for her comments. As per the sources, formal complaint is yet to be lodged with the panchayat office.

Meanwhile, there has been incessant tree felling in Bethora just a few minutes away from the panchayat office, in order to create land plots. Felled trees are being buried into the ground and as per the locals, creation of more than 50 plots is in process.

Forest department had erected warning signboards to alert the motorists regarding the presence of bisons in the area and the work of demarcating plots is underway on war-footing near these same boards.
