PERNEM: Three Dhangar families in Tuem, who were dependent on lamps as source of light for nearly nine decades, were finally provided with a solar energy system on Thursday.

They heaved a sigh of relief from darkness after Congress’ Mandrem leader Sachin Parab provided them with a solar energy system.

They claimed that they failed to get electricity connections as they did not possess No Objection Certificates (NOCs). However, the family thanked Parab for providing them with the solar energy system.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, Mahila Congress president Beena Naik, Vijay Bhike, Sangeeta Parab, Sachin Parab, Varad Mardolkar and others were present.

Chodankar said, “The Mandrem MLA left the Congress and joined BJP for development of his constituency then why these Dhangar houses have till date not received electricity connections? Congress is a party that works and reaches out to everyone including the poor.”

Former minister Sangeeta Parab said, “The corrupt leaders have gone to BJP and the Congress has become clean.”
