PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) declared the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exam with 95.46 per cent students clearing it.
Compared to the passing percentage of 92.66 per cent in 2022, this year the passing percentage increased by two per cent. Girls and boys achieved a passing percentage of 95.88 per cent and 95.03 per cent respectively.
The examination was conducted in a two-terminal system with the first term being held from November 10 to 25, 2022 with the second held between March 15 and 31, 2023.
Of the 19,377 students, who appeared for the examination, 18,497 students cleared the examination.
Of 9,661 boys and 9,716 girls, 9,181 boys and 9,316 girls passed. Students of Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational streams appeared for the examination held at 20 centres across the State. Sanguem taluka secured the highest passing percentage of 98.63 percent followed by Tiswadi (97.83 per cent) and Salcete (97.75 per cent).
Of 75 private candidates, 37 cleared the examination. Of 43 ITI students, 30 passed and of 291 repeaters, 179 candidates cleared the exam.
Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that the passing percentage in 2022 was 92.66 per cent. The Goa Board has also announced that the candidates, who appeared for examination, will be able to download the copies of their results from the Board’s website from May 8 onwards.
Shetye said, “Candidates interested in verifying their marks have to reach out to their school before May 18, make a request, pay the fee and get their marks verified.”
