95-year-old Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on Dec 31, 2022

The 95-year-old Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on
Saturday at 9:34 AM, in his residence at the Vatican’s Mater Ecclesiae
Monastery. Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger who took the name Benedict XVI was elected
on 19 April 2005 as the 265th Pope. His pontificate came to an end after he
resigned on 28 February 2013.

Monastery

He was born at Marktl am Inn, Diocese of Passau (Germany) on
16 April 1927.

Joseph Ratzinger was ordained a priest 29 June 1951

On 25 March 1977, Pope Paul VI named him Archbishop of
Munich and Freising.

Pope Paul VI made him a Cardinal during the Consistory of 27
June 1977.

He took part in the Conclave that elected John Paul Iand
Pope John Paul II.

Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger was elected on 19 April 2005 as
the 265th Pope.

After his resignation on 28 February 2013 Pope Emeritus
Benedict XVI lived within the Vatican in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery until
his death.
