A fire breaks out on the third floor of a flat in Mapusa

At midnight, a fire broke out on the third floor of a flat in Dempo Mansion, an old building situated above Canara Bank, opposite Ram Manohar Lohiya Garden in Mapusa. The firefighting team immediately rushed to the site to address the raging blaze. The top floor of the building is closed off, while the ground floor houses commercial stores. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known, although firefighters suspect that a cigarette may have been the source of the ignition.

Local residents have raised concerns, alleging that migrants and individuals seeking shelter during rainstorms often use the top floor of the building. They claim that these individuals engage in illicit activities.

In light of this incident, it is essential to emphasize the significance of fire safety protocols and precautions. Building management, residents, and relevant authorities should collaborate to ensure the implementation of proper fire safety measures, such as regular inspections, functioning fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and clear evacuation routes. It is important to prioritize the safety of all occupants and take proactive steps to prevent future fire incidents.
