PANJIM: People in the vicinity of Geeta bakery, which is located a few meters from the Panjim police station, raised an alarm on finding that a person, who according to them looked similar to the Vasco sexual assault suspect’s face sketch released by the police, was near a bar on Friday.
“A person walked out of a bar at about 12 pm. He looked like the suspect in the updated sketch. People shouted that he be caught, but he ran away,” a local bar owner said. The mysterious person was accompanied by another man. Police were immediately summoned but could not trace him.
There is however no official confirmation as the police control room has denied receiving any such call. DIG O P Mishra, who was also unaware of the incident, said he would inquire about it.
