CURCHOREM: In a “blunder of sorts”, the Curchorem Congress Block office on Friday was surprised to receive a notice from the Returning Officer for Curchorem constituency Sagun Velip intimating them about the special camp to cast votes for Postal Ballot on February 18 from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
Reacting to the notice, Curchorem Congress candidate Rosario (Marathe) Fernandes said, “I have not seen the notice at all but learnt from the block office bearers that the notice was received on Friday intimating about the camp. If I was aware about the camp, I would have definitely attended it.”
Fernandes, said it has been done intentionally to keep him away.
When contacted, Returning Officer Sagun Velip assured to look into the matter and said that the information was sent much earlier and also messages were sent just to inform them about the camp.
“In fact another letter has been sent to the candidates intimating them about the schedule of opening of strong room and counting of votes,” said Velip.
He further informed that another meeting will be convened to brief the candidates on the procedures of the counting of votes for which the date has not yet been fixed.
