NEW DELHI: The Government has made the Aadhaar card mandatory for all central employees for entry into the government offices from January 1.
All central ministries and offices under them in Delhi and NCR have been directed to install the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance machines by December 31 to allow entry to only those employees having the Aadhaar card.
All central offices outside Delhi have been also directed to install such machines latest by January 26 to record attendance of their employees.
In a circular, the Department of Personnel has made it clear that anybody coming late in the new year will forego half a day’s casual leave (CL) automatically. They will first forego CL and then the Earned Leave (EL) if they exhaust CL by regularly coming late. Departmental action will be taken against those who exhaust all such leaves.
The only concession to the late comers is that the head of department can pardon an employee comin late up to one hour and giving a reasonable explanation. Such pardon, however, will be given only twice in a month.
