PANJIM: Labour and Employment Department will create a data base of unemployed youth in the State, linked with the Aadhaar card. Labour and Employment Minister Rohan Khaunte said the exercise will give a factual position of unemployment in the State.
“All data will be aadhaar linked, which will give us actual and factual position of the unemployed youth scenario in the State,” the Minister said on Thursday.
“We realise that data with employment exchange of unemployed youth is different from that with the Labour Department. The names which are there in employment exchange are working somewhere and shown as unemployed,” he said.
He said the data base is to know the actual position of unemployment, and does not mean that the card of those working in the private sector will be cancelled.
“We are creating the system in which data will be gathered in association with Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) from labour and employment, Goa Chambers of Commerce and Industries, CCI, GSIA and IDC”, Khanute said.
He said that the process of gathering and compiling data has started. Industries, employer and employees data will be collected by the end of this month.
