MARGAO: The people waiting in queues at various centres across South Goa to complete the formalities with regards to linking their Aadhaar Card with PAN Card before the March 31 deadline, were left frustrated on Tuesday as the Income-Tax Department server crashed.
To add to their woes, the department officials told the people to visit the department the next day.
It may be recalled that for the last couple of weeks, people have been standing in long queues at various centres in the district to complete the task of linking their Aadhaar Card with PAN Card. If they miss the deadline, their PAN cards will be inoperative, which will become an issue with regards to their bank accounts, filing taxes, etc.
Those persons, who have not linked their PAN cards with their Aadhaar till date, will have to pay Rs 1,000 fine to the I-T department. They are worried that with less than 10 days left for the deadline, they are running out of time to complete the task.
There have also been queues at centres, banks and even the South Goa District Collectorate with people trying to either get their Aadhaar Cards registered or update their Aadhaar card details first.
