Aadhar card must for benefits in schools

PANJIM: Under directives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), the Department of Education has issued a circular to all schools in the State to make Aadhar card an identity document for delivery of services or benefits for the academic year 2017-18.

PANJIM: Under directives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), the Department of Education has issued a circular to all schools in the State to make Aadhar card an identity document for delivery of services or benefits for the academic year 2017-18.
Speaking to Herald, Education Director G P Bhat said, “We have issued a circular to all government and government aided, unaided primary, middle, high, higher secondary schools in Goa making Aadhar card as an identity document for delivery of services or benefits starting from the academic year 2017-18. The linkage of Aadhar card will be necessary to avail benefits such as mid-day meal, raincoats, uniforms, note books, girl’s incentives and Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship programmes.”
The circular states that the use of Aadhar as identity document simplifies the government delivery process, brings in transparency and efficiency and enables to get entitlements directly.
Further, any individual desirous of availing the benefit under various schemes at the school, who does not possess an Aadhar number or has not enrolled for Aadhar, shall have to apply for enrolment immediately, states the circular.
The circular also states that heads of institutions are requested to give relevant instructions at the time of declaring annual results so that students bring the details of their Aadhar card on the school re-opening day in June.
Institutions are also required to send the school wise details of students’ Aadhar card information in the enclosed proforma to the statistical section in June.
