AAI to build 10-tonne bio-digester plant in Chicalim

VASCO: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) under its Corporate Social Responsibility gave approval of Rs 15 crore to set up 10-tonne capacity bio-digester plant, four materials recovery facility (MRF) sheds besides bailing machines, forklifts and dustbins to curb the menace of garbage in designated areas under the flying path of Dabolim airport.
If sources are to be believed, on Monday, information from the Minister for Panchayati Raj Mauvin Godinho has come that 
AAI board meeting held in Delhi approved Rs 15 crore to set up the 10-tonne capacity bio-digester plant in Chicalim Panchayat.
This plant is expected to treat the garbage collected from the nearby villages such as Bogmalo, Chicalim etc and electricity is likely to be generated from this waste.
In this regard, Goa Waste Management Corporation and AAI are expected to sign tri-party MoU for this project. The AAI will bear cost of the maintenance and operation of this facility for five years.
