MargaO: The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged the Government committed fraud to the tune of Rs. 85 crore rupees by selectively giving the contract to a company selling laptops for the laptop distribution scheme.
The AAP office bearer of Goa, Edwin Vaz has demanded immediate stopping of the procurement of laptops from these companies and scrap the entire process forthwith. Edwin Vaz, Ranjit Cotta Carvalho and others were present at the briefing.
The AAP men while explaining the alleged scam said the Government of Goa had procured 45, 000 laptops to distribute to the students of the higher secondary. AAP has alleged the Government by giving the job to a selective company had put the business of other competitive companies in trouble. Edwin Vaz sarcastically said the new Government had made a good start by committing this misappropriation. “The Government will finish the IT industry by doing such misappropriations” said Vaz.
“The Government has also done a u-turn by only promising and not delivering on their promise made in 2012 of giving the students a choice of choosing their own laptops. Students have to be allowed to have a choice of their own laptops or atleast have to be given a incentive to buy laptops of their choice” demanded AAP.
