AAP asked to reject rail freight terminal at Xelvona

CURCHOREM: Some people from Assolda village opposed the proposed “Rail Freight Terminal” at Xic-Xelvona for handling of multi-cargo during the meeting of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held to interact with the people of Assolda and surrounding areas at Assolda panchayat hall on Sunday.

AAP leaders assured the people at the meeting convened to interact and prepare its local manifesto that every project would be kept open for public scrutiny and no project would be imposed on the people without their consent.
Besides demanding to reduce water and electricity tariffs, people demanded jobs for local youth as many of them from the village are unemployed.
Stating that garbage problem in the area has not been tackled properly, they demanded arrangements for door-to-door collection of garbage and disposal.
Another demand they put before the AAP representatives is that the locality needs a proper medical centre as the people have to travel long distance for their medical needs.
APP leaders told the people that the idea behind contacting the locals is to learn the local issues so that they can solve it if their party comes to power.
Guest speaker Franky Pereira, Curchorem AAP convenor James Fernandes, Quepem convenor Patricia Fernandes, Ravindra Velip and other local leaders were present.
