PANJIM: The State unit of Aam Aadmi Party (SAAP) has demanded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) should summon and arrest Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the basis of statement made by then Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik that there was corruption in the State government.
Addressing a press conference, AAP leader Valmiki Naik asked, “If Arvind Kejriwal is arrested by ED in the Delhi excise policy case on the statements made by some people then why can’t ED arrest Sawant and his wife based on the former Governor Malik’s statement on corruption by Goa government.”
Naik said that Malik had alleged that there was corruption in the Goa government and that the Chief Minister was demanding bribes and his wife was demanding money separately. “If people’s statements were enough to arrest a sitting Chief Minister Kejriwal then why can’t the ED arrest Sawant and his wife based on Malik’s statement,” questioned Naik.
Naik said that the AAP was proud that Kejriwal made submissions in the court himself and told the Court that the ED was trying to create a smokescreen of AAP being corrupt.
