MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said COVID-19 scenario and life after the pandemic, calls for a revisit to the “flawed” idea of a Greenfield airport at Mopa and the demands made by people representing over 10000 residents in the villages around the plateau are justified.

AAP leader Patricia Fernandes said COVID-19 has thrown the world economy off gear and hence the very viability of the airport is now in question. She said that the demands made by the people whose livelihoods are at stake should not be ignored.

“The people of Goa should know that the airport is a land scam. The buying and selling of land made around the airport by politicians and land sharks are indications of how land dealings have become a priority. In Varkhand, Amberem, Uguem, Mopa, Chandel and Casarvanem villages in Pernem taluka, Goans have raised very pertinent issues.”
