MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that unless teachers get the respect that they deserve, education will continue to suffer to the detriment of the student community in the state.

The party exhorted the government to read Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia’s book ‘Shiksha’ to understand how to build trust with teachers in Goa.
AAP convenor Elvis Gomes in a video address accused the government of harassing teachers by engaging them in odd jobs that had no relation with their line of duty.
“This lockdown period has not been good for teachers. First a survey of households was forced upon them. That was followed by supervision of distribution of wheat and rice through fair price shops. As if the government was not satisfied, teachers were forced to attend schools without the presence of students despite Central government’s SOPs to the contrary” he said.
“Now, an avoidable salary issue is raked up,” said Gomes citing the results of Class12th examination in Delhi which he claimed was a ‘stunning’ 98%”.
He said such a record breaking result was possible only because the Delhi govt had successfully won the trust of the teachers and valued their contributions.
