PANJIM: Appealing to the followers of Manohar Parrikar’s “ideology” to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Sunday claimed that his party has the capability to fulfil Parrikar’s vision for Goa.
Sisodia, who is on two-day visit to Goa, on Sunday, addressed party workers in Panjim. Nearly 4,000 party workers attended the meeting online.
Remembering the State’s first Chief Minister Bahusaheb Bandodkar, Sisodia said, “While Bahusaheb is known as the founder of education, Parrikar is called as founder of development in Goa”.
The AAP leader accused the current BJP-led government of burying the vision of development nurtured by former CM Manohar Parrikar, after his death.
He claimed that those who are in BJP and believed in Parrikar’s ideology are “insulted”, “humiliated” and “sidelined” by Dr Pramod Sawant-led government.
“I am appealing all the BJP workers who were with Parrikar and who believed in his ideology and vision for Goa, to join us. Let us together fulfil Parrikar’s vision,” Sisodia said.
“We have the power to fulfil the dream of Parrikar. We will work to rebuild the vision of Parrikar in Goa,” he added.
The Delhi Deputy Chief Minister said there are many in the BJP and Congress, who are looking at AAP as an option to achieve Goa’s vision of development.
“There are many like-minded leaders, currently having affiliation to other parties, who are looking for an option. They want an option they can trust upon…have faith in their vision and commitment for the people of Goa. And AAP is that option,” he said.
Sisodia said realising that public mandate has no standing; the Goans are upset with the BJP and Congress for their corrupt
politics. “Goans have now decided to be with AAP,” Sisodia said.
The leader said the party’s vote percentage has been increasing across all the constituencies in Goa.
“We polled 15 per cent of the vote share during Zilla Panchayat election,” he said.
Referring to the horse-trading in the State, Sisodia said Goa has seen the model of BJP wherein whoever may get the votes but the government is formed by buying out the MLAs.
Urging party workers to extend their base, Sisodia said, “The party has already created hope in every Goan’s mind and now we have to create confidence in every Goan’s mind that we will be winning in 2022.”
“AAP will be the political party and form the government that will lead the way for progress, that will bring Parrikar’s vision for a developed Goa into life,” he reiterated.
He said the party needs to get bigger in the next six months by increasing its enrolment from 4,000 to 10,000 workers. “We have to win the 2022 election and govern the State in such a way that people will forget the BJP and Congress, like in Delhi they did,” the AAP leader added.
