MARGAO: The stars have already begun to fall out from the Aam Aadmi Party and in a bitter way. Adv Ashma Sayyed, who had joined the party with much fanfare just six months ago, has quit the party alleging that AAP is a massive fraud.
On joining the party, Adv Sayed was appointed as AAP’s State women’s co-coordinator.
Addressing a press conference at Margao, Adv Sayed lambasted the AAP leadership for, what she alleged as the massive fraud they are perpetrating on Goans. She explained that, like many others, she got attracted by the propaganda machinery of AAP, but on joining the party she has learnt that the party was taking the Goans for a ride by the leaders from Delhi.
“I have worked tirelessly for AAP over the last six months, believing in the sincerity of its leaders. But they were flying down from Delhi repeatedly to fool Goans with their empty rhetoric. When I had joined AAP, l was promised the Naveilm ticket, though did not join the party on any precondition,” she said.
As the days passed by, Sayed explained, she realised that the Delhi leaders were not at all honest. “The lack of inner party democracy was also becoming evident to me. Goan leaders and workers were only supposed to do the legwork along with the many imported volunteers, who had no connect with Goa, but were only here to further Keiriwal’s plans. All decisions were taken in Delhi. This was just another Delhi high command party only the packaging was different,” she said.
Sayed announced that she was resigning from all posts she held in AAP and that she was formally quitting the party. She cautioned all Goan’s from falling prey to the false propaganda of AAP and urged the Goan voters to support a true regional alternative so that Goa’s interest, including those of all communities would be safeguarded.
