AAP criticises govt over coal operations, Sonsoddo fire

PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed that the election euphoria has died down and the common man was back on target with incidents such as expansion of coal operations at MPT and Sonsoddo.
AAP leader Sidharth Karapurkar said that the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) established to protect the environment was acting contrary to the mandate by allowing coal handling operations on ‘experimental basis’ at the mooring dolphins in the middle of Vasco bay. “GSPCB is showing that the health of the people was the last priority so long as the financial health of the board members and the corporates that they served was protected”, he added.
Karapurkar further said that the fire at Sonsoddo appeared to be a conspiracy and the pollution caused due to the burning of garbage at such a mass scale was hazardous to public health. He said “We knew of rewards given in anticipation of votes. But post poll, the true colours of the anti-common man government has surfaced with massive pollution choking the lungs of the people.”
