AAP demands LPG price reversal

The letter states that people have been hit as most businesses are on a downslide because of GST and the income of the citizen has not increased in the last two years

MARGAO: The women’s wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Aurea Fernandes submitted a memorandum to the Department of Civil Supplies in Margao requesting reduction in the prices of essential commodities including cooking gas.
In the letter, AAP has stated that the citizens have been traumatized by the price rise. The letter further states that people have been hit on all sides as most businesses such as trading and manufacturing are on a downslide because of GST and the income of the citizen has not increased in the last two years but has drastically decreased.
“With the current situation, the common people of India feel left out of the development and so-called vikas of our country and no more can they afford to pay Rs 1000 for a gas cylinder”, stated AAP in the letter.
Around 50 AAP volunteers protested outside the office of the Department of Civil Supplies at old South Goa Collectorate building, after which they held a protest march around the Margao municipal circle.
AAP leader Lumia Almeida said “Many middle-class Goans gave up their subsidy in good faith when the price was around Rs 600. Now the gas price in Goa is almost Rs 1000 which is more than what they can afford. The government has betrayed the trust of the people”.
