MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday dubbed the 3-day lockdown as unscientific and blamed the ‘ghanti bajao’ government for the huge crowds seen resorting to panic buying from stores across the State.
AAP convener Elvis Gomes called upon the people to be watchful as the 3-days of lockdown ordered by the government coupled with ‘Janata Curfew’ during night that had confounded experts on its efficacy in stopping spread of COVID could be utilised to carry out undesirable activities such as hill cutting, destruction of agricultural fields and clearance of forest cover.
Gomes said the office of the Speaker was put on four weeks’ notice on the disqualification petition against 10 MLAs by the Supreme Court which had to be replied by July 17 and wondered whether lockdown will be used to escape the Supreme Court deadline.
Meanwhile, the AAP termed reports of doctors being forced to visit houses of the rich and influential in Goa to collect samples for swab tests as ‘shameful governance’ that tended to offend the self respect of doctors in the State.
“These reports say that aspiring Bollywood actresses are treated as VVIPs and doctors from State health services are forced to go to their residences to do tests. Level has fallen,” Gomes added.
