Panjim: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been vehemently raising the issue of overpriced purchases made by the government on several equipment to fight COVID-19, has filed an official complaint on Thursday, before the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Vigilance Department citing the newspaper reports published in a local daily.
AAP leader Sidharth Karapurkar who filed the complaint seeking registration of FIR on the basis of details published in oHerald, said that it was unfortunate that those in power were making money even in pandemic times, instead of focusing on protection of lives.
“How low can this Sawant Govt go? Corruption during normal times is known to the people. But corruption during abnormal times as these should have at least shaken their conscience. While people are dying, the authorities are busy making money taking advantage of the situation. I appeal to the people and particularly those living in mining areas to take note that even money kept in District Mineral Fund meant for people’s welfare was not spared. We will sensitise the people from mining areas how they have been cheated” said Karapurkar vowing to start a campaign to expose the government on corruption.
