CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim town with is typical rural setup and packed with seafarers and people from different communities are always excited about December 19. Because it’s Liberation Day of Goa and the call for Liberation came from Cuncolim, well known for its freedom fighters and martyrs.
To keep with the Liberation Day hype, Aam Admi Party’s meeting besides Cuncolim bus stand proved to be a show of strength of party workers and the public at large, when Arvind Kejriwal shared stage with all the AAP candidates from across Goa along with State convenor Elvis Gomes in whose home turf the meeting was held. Other big wigs at the meeting included Dr Oscar Rebello, former State convenor Rajeshree Nagarsekar, and national executive member Dinesh Waghela besides senior members of the Kejri core team Ashutosh and Pankaj Gupta.
Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister seemed to spitting fire when started his speech and he went on a full attack on Modi’s character and corruption and pointed out to gaps at the demonetisation of old currency notes.
“BJP is such a corrupt party that Goans wouldn’t have voted for them. But in 2012, Parrikar gave hope and assurances and ditched Goans completely. I concede I don’t know politics and AAP is not about politicians but about non-corrupt people who want to be a part of a change in the system,” stated Kejriwal who broke into Konkani to welcome the crowd, earlier in the evening.
Speaking to an impressive crowd, he stated that all the 33-candidates declared till now have no corruption charges, have a good character and do not have any communalism taint across Goa. He dared the Congress and BJP to declare candidates that meet these norms like the AAP. He stated that Goa broke the ice in 2012 for the BJP and minorities and UP gave Modi a win in 2014 that has made the BJP so powerful and corrupt. He said it’s time for Goa and UP to lead the way and expose BJP and vote them out. He also said that he’s worried of the industries outcome in India with banks not allowing traders and the common man to withdraw their own money.
Kejriwal insisted that the party has no funds and that the party runs on people’s goodwill and donations and hence he told the people to spread the goodwill and message and garner voters to vote for AAP led by Elvis Gomes. He placed before Goans AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Elvis who’ll take on Parsekar for the post of CM in the coming elections.
“A for AAP, B for BJP and C for Congress, so you know who’s the A team, B team and C team from this equation,” stated Elvis. He then went on a complete onslaught and presented documents, CAG reports, investigation documents stating that Modi is corrupt and has allegedly taken bribes from mega industrial groups, through his tenure as chief minister. He dared Modi to come clean and set up an inquiry to clear his name in these allegations.
He alleged how the government through demonetisation is hoarding up cash and working waiving loans of liquor baron Vijay Mallya and 63 other Indians who are corrupt and defaulters at banks in India. He stated that he and every AAP member will be jailed or even killed but won’t concede to corruption in the coming polls.
