VASCO: Former Union minister Ajay Maken claimed that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is the ‘B team of BJP’ and that both these parties have been jointly working to cut down Congress votes in the forthcoming assembly elections in different States, including Goa.
He was addressing a huge gathering at the inauguration function of the Mormugao Block Congress Committee office at Baina on Sunday. Others present on the occasion were AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar, GPCC General Secretary Vijay Khot, GPCC Minority cell chairman Urfan Mullha, GPCC senior member M K Shaik, Sankalp Amonkar and Vasco Congress block President Vishal Naik.
“Firstly, I want to appeal to all congressmen that let us not be carried away by fake claims made by bogus survey done by Kejiriwal-led Aam Admi Party. It is an open secret that AAP is the ‘B team of BJP’ and both these parties have been jointly working to cut down Congress votes. Wherever it is a straight fight between BJP and Congress, AAP has been fielding its candidates to benefit BJP and this can be seen in Punjab as well as in Goa,” Maken said.
Commenting on the recent demonetization of currency notes, he said, “As far as taking action against the black money is concerned, we are fully supporting any action against black money, but inconvenience to the people should not be there.”
“Also I don’t think that demonetization of currency will have a big impact on black money as is being made out to the people of the country by the BJP. Though PM Modi said that there is huge amount of black money stack outside the country, but he failed to get such black money. Now Modi has been saying that the black money from rich is being taken out, but what we are seeing outside the banks are the poor people; the lower middle class people standing in queues and trying to deposit money or collect money and we don’t see any crorepatis and back marketers or hoarders standing outside the banks. 98 percent of the poor or middle class people in our country are the biggest sufferers,” he told.
Lambasting the Modi-led government, he said, “BJP made tall promises during their campaign that they would give special status to Goa and create employment to the unemployed, but after elections BJP made a U-turn.”
“Instead of providing employment, the government is out to support the company that is in the process of closing down and retrenching workers. Even the IPB of Goa government has become an agent for real estate companies outside Goa,” he alleged.
Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar said, “It is a straight fight between the congress and BJP, but AAP is just trying to cut down Congress votes; but I don’t think that voters would fall prey to the AAP campaign.”
