VASCO/CUNCOLIM/QUEPE: Continuing with its unique moves to ensure peoples’ participation in governance, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders along with the general public on Sunday participated in the process of preparing constituency-wise poll manifesto and it was suggested by the people of Vasco that AAP should include issues such as re-drawing of MPT’s jurisdiction, coal pollution free Vasco, rehabilitation for demolition affected, improvisation of transport system etc.
While having discussion on several crucial issues affecting the people of the port town, citizens slammed MPT for the coal pollution in Vasco. They also claimed that though MPT and few coal handling companies have been making money, people are left to breathe polluted air. Another citizen claimed that MPT has been making tall claim on its territorial limits from Cortalim Bridge to Dona Paula and till Betul Port.
In Cuncolim, the Dialogue was attended by over 250 people who were frustrated by the total failure of the system. Citizens complained about there being no intent by the government despite numerous memorandums. Earlier in the Day the Cuncolim office was inaugurated in the hands of Antonio Pinto.
In Quepem, parking problems, absence of a fish and vegetable market, lack of playgrounds and poor service at the health centre were some of the key problems voiced at the Goa Dialogue conducted at the Quepem municipal hall. At least 250 residents from Quepem town and surrounding villages put forth their problems and enthusiastically participated in the dialogue from which AAP would formulate its manifesto for Quepem.
