PANJIM: Ahead of the 2017 Legislative Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has given formal approval to Goa Forward as a political party to contest the polls.
“I am directed to state that Election Commission of India after having considered your application dated January 20, 2016 for registration of Goa Forward Party as a political party and the documents produced in support of the Statements… has registered the party as a political party under section 29 A of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951 on and with effect from August 5, 2016,” says the letter by ECI’s Delhi office.
Goa Forward spokesperson Durgadas Kamat said it is now time to take Goa Forward. “We are providing a political alternative to the State which will fulfill the aspirations of true Goans,” Kamat said.
