MARGAO: Volunteers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday took initiative to clean tarballs from the the beaches of the coastal belt, as the government failed to act timely, despite assurance from the Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar.
A team of volunteers led by senior AAP leader Captain Venzy Viegas held a cleaning drive at Benaulim beach. Speaking to the media persons, Venzy Viegas said that they had appealed to the people and AAP volunteers to join hands in removing the tarballs from the beaches.
“We have collected nearly 36 bags of tar balls from the Benaulim beach, and have handed them over to the company appointed by the government for the cleaning of the beaches,” said Viegas.
