AAP petitions Disabilities Commissioner over transfer of anti-IIT activist’s wife

MARGAO: The angry reactions following the transfer of anganwadi worker Lata Gaonkar has gained momentum. Gaonkar who is an employee at Anganwadi in Murmune, Guleli has been transferred from the village to Sanguem. Lata who is a specially-abled employee of the Women and Child Department, is also the wife of one of the anti-IIT activists. 

The group of activists, who are part of the movement against the setting up of IIT in Melauli, has decided to complaint with the Vigilance Department against the Director of Woman and Child Department for the order against the transfer.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has petitioned the Disabilities Commissioner objecting to Gaonkar’s transfer. 

AAP has further demanded that action be taken against the persons involved. 

AAP prayed that the commission takes immediate cognisance and stay the order dated July 3 and initiate action against all involved for having acted contrary to the provisions of the Act of 1995 and the policy framed there under, which prohibits such arbitrary transfer of government servants.
