MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party has taken strong exception to the malafide cutting of over 100 trees in and around Quepem ostensibly for road widening and questioned the wisdom of the Forest Department for permitting such tree cutting.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Patricia Fernandes pointed out that trees have been cut along the Amona-Quepem Road and Quepem-Curchorem Highway next to the Primary Health Centre and Quepem Sports Complex.
She said thick teak and “bhendi” trees have been cut and further disclosed that the Quepem Municipal Council claims to have got permission for cutting of the trees from the office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests.
