PANJIM: The Goa government’s confession on the availability of drugs in the coastal State has prompted the Aam Aadmi Party to take a dig at the former for its helplessness in controlling the menace. Cabinet minister Dayanand Mandrekar has triggered the controversy through a fresh statement reiterating the drug scenario prevailing in the State.
At a public rally in Campal last weekend, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had spoken about the growing menace of drugs, prostitution and casinos, to which the BJP Goa Unit took offence and demanded a public apology from him.
The AAP national convener’s statement on drugs was also in reference to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Mandrekar acknowledging the existence of drugs in 2014. Parsekar was quoted as saying that foreigners come to Goa only to do drugs. Reacting to the government professing the illegality, AAP has now sought an apology from BJP State president Vinay Tendulkar.
