PANJIM: Gearing up for the 2017 Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared it will contest the polls and have women candidates in 15 of the 40 constituencies.
AAP has already launched its election campaign organizing at least 10 corner meetings everyday in various constituencies and targeting 300 meetings in April.
“Emphasis is placed on engaging the youth and others to take active part in politics and prepare them to be the future leaders. AAP has already started its activities in more than 25 constituencies and plans to cover all the constituencies by the end of the month. More than 600 volunteers of AAP will be engaged in this month-long program,” the party’s media cell said.
AAP also started a massive connectivity program called ‘Goa Jodo’ (Unite Goa) to reach out to Goans across the State through door-to-door meetings.
“It is amply clear that Goans are completely disillusioned with the fascist, corrupt, and untrustworthy government led by the BJP. Some of the many issues the people have raised during the campaign are the mounting debt incurred due to financial mismanagement, the recent mishandling of the DefExpo event, the violent suppression of the protesting tribal villagers of Cavrem, the bizarre attacks on natural heritage such as coconut tree and State animal, the authoritarian powers given to the IPB to destroy
Goa’s environment, and most importantly the stark U-turns of BJP leaders such as Manohar Parrikar (Defence Minister) and Laxmikant Parsekar (Chief Minister) on almost every promise made in their 2012 manifesto,” AAP further stated.
