AAP wants ministers booked for violating lockdown rules

MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that cases be registered against ministers who were found violating the lockdown rules and regulations in the state and questioned whether these rules are meant only for the common man.

The ministers have been openly displaying arrogance by their acts which are not good examples for the citizens to follow, AAP leader Ramiro Mascarenhas alleged.

“Some ministers in the Goa Government who were caught off guard flouting restrictions imposed by MHA restricting two persons in a car and one on a bike, got heavily trolled on social media for violations of the norms,” the party charged.

Meanwhile, AAP has claimed that the relationship between the government and casinos in the State is so sacrosanct that it can be compared to marriage vows – ‘in sickness and in health, until death do us part’.

AAP said it meant that even extreme situations such as COVID-19 and lockdown, could cause no impediments in granting favours to casinos.

Due to bankruptcy of good ideas and politicisation of the food distribution process, the common man was going through tough times trying to find a morsel of food, while the government did not hesitate to keep its half-yearly date with the casinos, Party leader Patricia Fernandes claimed.

She said the government should have had welfare measures in place for the farmers, cashew growers, shopkeepers, fishermen, pilots, autorickshaws, taxis, transport operators, barbers etc.

“If a mechanic has opened his garage, the spare parts shop is closed. This is just one example of how difficult life has been even after lockdown relaxation. The government’s priorities lie elsewhere” she alleged.
