CANACONA: A truck had been lying in the middle of the NH66 on Karmalghat for the past few days with no one coming forward to repair or to tow the heavy vehicle, which is a potential catalyst for an accident waiting to happen.
The stranded tanker truck has raised many a eyebrows of the regular commuting community on this road with serious questions being asked about the role of Highway Patrol in reporting the matter to their superiors to speedily remove the potential threat to the other vehicles.
The stretch of the road where the multi axle tanker truck is located, is flanked by deep and dangerous curves, leaving commuters unaware of the fact that a stationary truck is lying just around the corner.
Top of it, no warning signboards have been put up to warn vehicles, as a result of which every vehicle passing through has to apply breaks suddenly to keep from hitting the truck and to barely avoid the oncoming vehicles.
“Since no one is seen around the truck it is not possible to ascertain whether it is carrying any liquid cargo or it is empty,” the locals informed.
“Since the day the truck has been left on the highway, along with the cargo, there has been no sign of the driver or cleaner or mechanic, nor has there been highway patrol police in sight,” the locals complained.
A daily traveller via this NH66 road wishing anonymity remarked that the truck has been in the same location for the past more than one week.
