MARGAO: Employees of the South Goa Administrator of Comunidades have urged the government to absorb them in government departments as their pen down strike in protest over the non payment of salaries got underway on Wednesday.
Employees claimed that the Goa Human Rights panel has taken up their issue by issuing a notice to the Administrator of Comundiades, District Collector and Secretary (Revenue).
Barring one employee, almost all the employees resorted to pen down strike on Wednesday, threatening to continue the same till the government disburses their salaries of last four months and work out a permanent solution to their long-standing demand.
An employee Vivek Desai said the government should take a decision and absorb them in government departments if it cannot pay their salaries on time. “Successive governments have failed to work out a solution to our problem. The employees will not mind if the government absorbs them in other government departments if there’s no money to pay salaries for the Comunidade employees”, he said.
Desai and other employees said they and their families are facing problems due to the government’s failure to clear salaries of last four months. “We have borrowed money as our salaries are not forthcoming from the government. We have been facing difficulties to pay school fees of our wards”, he added.
