PANJIM: A panel backed by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won the Goa University Students Council elections with a thumping majority on Wednesday.
ABVP swept all posts of the executive council at GUSC elections while, it won eight of the nine posts.
Akshay Shet was elected chairman of GUSC while, Sudip Naik won the secretary’s post. The elected executive members are Shubham Malik, Mandar Dessai, Akash Naik, Prabha Naik, Mayank Prabhudessai and Subhesh Naik Gaonkar.
After the results were declared, ABVP leaders said that they are committed to work for the welfare of student community. Shet is currently studying in final year at Shiroda Ayurveda College and Sudip Naik is studying in Government College, Sankhali.
The elections were held following directives form the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Later, the ABVP students took out a victory rally in the city.
