PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Vibhesh Prabhudessai, a Junior Engineer at Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), on charges of bribery.
He was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor whose bills were pending clearance. “He was demanding Rs 40,000 as commission from the complainant contractor but it was negotiated and reduced to Rs 5,000. The complainant has recorded the conversation after which he approached ACB with the complaint. We laid a trap accordingly and caught him red-handed from his office at GTDC,” PI Francis Corte, who led the raiding team, told Herald. The complainant who rented out his vehicles in different departments was visiting GTDC to clear his bills.
The raid was conducted at around 5:30pm and arrest formalities were çompleted late evening.
