PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has closed the inquiry against former IG of Goa Police Sunil Garg in the alleged bribery case.
According to sources, the ACB has submitted its report to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stating that no corroborative evidence was found in the complaint lodged by Vasco-based businessman Munnalal Halwai in 2016.
Halwai had filed a complaint with the ACB that Garg had demanded and accepted Rs 5.5 lakh to register a FIR at Ponda Police Station. He had approached Panjim’s JMFC to direct ACB to register an FIR against Garg in September 2016 as no action was forthcoming.
High Court had quashed and set aside an order of the Additional Sessions Court ordering ACB to register FIR against Garg.
