MARGAO: A loaded truck fell on its side at the narrow Gudi Chandor road after it collided with another empty truck on Thursday evening. The incident has brought to light the careless attitude of authorities in enforcing the order of District Administration disallowing heavy traffic in the Chandor village roads.
The truck which was coming from Assolda was travelling to a crusher nearby through the narrow Gudi-Chandor road. The truck collided and fell on its side which resulted in a traffic jam for at least three hours.
The Chandor Panchayat has taken strong objection to the careless attitude of the authorities for not keeping heavy traffic out of Chandor. Sarpanch Edward D’Silva said, “There is an order banning all heavy traffic into the village roads. Chandor is a heritage village and this commercial traffic shouldn’t be allowed to play here.”
He said that the heavy traffic plying in busy hours, school timings is common and there is no action taken even after complaints.
The Chandor villagers have requested the district administration to take up their demand and enforce the order banning heavy traffic plying into the village.
