PANJIM: A Police officer, accused of sexually misbehaving with two students of Goa University, appeared before the Internal Complaints Committee of Goa University.
However, he refuted the charges of sexual misconduct before the committee. He also refused to apologise to the two complainant girls as asked by the committee.

The Goa State Women’s Commission had directed the Internal Complaints Committee of Goa University to conduct an inquiry into the complaint and submit the report by September 13.
The police officer had earlier ignored a number of notices of the Internal Complaints Committee asking him to appear before the committee.
The students had complained that the officer had allegedly indulged in sexual misconduct when they had gone to his office for internship.
Meanwhile Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) President Emidio Pinho lashed out at the Internal Complaints Committee of the Goa University for dealing with the sensitive issue in a haphazard manner.
“Goa University Internal Complaints Committee cannot conduct any hearing in the matter as the respondent perpetrator is not under its administrative control. In such cases, the Internal committee should have forwarded the complaint to the DGP Goa Police to refer the matter to the Internal Committee of Goa Police,” Pinho said.
Simultaneously the complaint in original should have been forwarded to local the police for criminal action. As per media, I’m informed that the Internal Complaints Committee had hearings in the matter which itself is illegal and void and summoning the police officer before the Internal Committee of Goa University was not in accordance with the law,” said Pinho
