Accused denied bail in Milk adulteration case

PANJIM: The Children’s Court on Monday refused to grant bail to an attendant of a day-care centre Renuka Shinde in connection with charges of giving adulterated milk to an infant.
During the hearing of her bail application, the prosecution brought to the notice of the court the CCTV footage clearly showing Shinde mixing the milk with an unknown ingredient while raising strong suspicion that the woman has been feeding adulterated milk to the infant.
The incident occurred at Ponda wherein the accused Shinde and Centre’s manager Gauri Kamat have been accused of running the racket at the cost of the health of young children enrolled at the institution.
The infant’s mother had lodged a police complaint after she found brownish substance in the milk feeder. Upon inquiry and based on the CCTV footage, her doubts that her daughter was being fed spiked milk got cleared. The Ponda Police registered FIR and arrested Shinde while Kamat applied for anticipatory bail, which would be heard on Friday.
