MARGAO: Rahul Matker, a resident of Ponda who was arrested by Konkan Railway in connection with the case of gutka and tobacco product worth Rs 23 lakh was granted anticipatory bail by Additional District and Session Court, Margao on Wednesday.
The Konkan Railway police had opposed his bail application before the court.
The court later ordered to release him on bail bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety in like amount. The court has also directed him to report at the Konkan Railway Police station for two days.
Meanwhile no arrest has been made in another case registered by Konkan Railway Police wherein gutka and tobacco products worth Rs 14 lakh were seized.
A consignment of 15 parcels having tobacco products in the name of Panab Gupta of main market, Margao was found in the parcel room. The parcels came in Goa Express from Orissa to Goa. Police said that the case is under investigation.
