Accused in Pilerne businessman’s murder brought to Goa, remanded to 10 days custody

PANJIM:  The couple accused of murdering Pilerne businessman was brought to Goa on Monday afternoon by the Porvorim Police. Neetu Rahuja and Jitendra Sahu were detained in Mumbai by the Crime Branch of Vashi in connection with the murder of businessman NS Dhillon.

They have been remanded to 10 days police custody.  The post-mortem has revealed that the businessman was smothered to death.  The accused have confessed to the crime. Police are further questioning the duo to establish the real motive for the crime, Porvorim police stated. 

On Sunday, the body of 77-year-old businessman Dhillon was found at his villa in Marra, Pilerne. 

Dhillon, a native of Punjab who had been residing in Goa since 2016, fell victim to a brutal murder at his residence at Pilerne. The crime, suspected to be a case of murder and robbery, involved injuries to the victim and the disappearance of a mobile phone, jewellery and a rented vehicle all valued at Rs 47 lakh by Mumbai Police. 

During the investigation minor injuries were observed on the body. The deceased was reportedly living alone but would receive guests quite often. Saturday night also there were some guests. The detailed examination revealed that the jewellery worn on his body, the mobile phone and a rent-a-car possessed by the deceased were found missing. 

The missing rent-a-car was tracked in Maharashtra and the occupants of the car have been detained by Mumbai Crime Branch. The Goa Police team reached Mumbai and took custody of the suspects. 

Based on facts and circumstances, a case of murder and robbery under Sections 302 and 392 of IPC, has been registered. 

Further investigation is on under Police Inspector Porvorim Rahul Parab and his team under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe.
