…AccuseS BJP of revoking permission to hold peaceful protest against CAA

MAPUSA: The Congress on Tuesday accused the BJP of abetting anarchism by revoking the permission to hold peaceful protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Addressing press conference here, Congress Spokesman Trajano D’Mello said, “The BJP is in alliance with anarchists, who threatened to disrupt a protest march against CAA.”
“This is not a threat just to the protest organisers, but to the government, the State and the rule of law,” D’Mello warned.
“If the officials revoke permission on threat from anarchists, then, is that not abetment of anarchy?” Trajano questioned.
Observing that peaceful protests are being held all over the country, D’Mello said that in Goa permission for a peaceful protest rally was revoked.
“The government will have to answer whether any protests will be allowed henceforth or not,” D’Mello said.
Meanwhile, taking strong exception to South Western Railways Manager Ajay Kumar Singh for referring to an elected representative and people of Cortalim as Portuguese, D’Mello demanded his immediate suspension.
