With both the Rachol and Colva village panchayats (VPs) given a deadline for setting up a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in their villages by December 15, the Colva VP has already initiated work on the task. Colva panchayat officials stated that the premises for the MRF is ready.
However, the panchayat, which has invited quotations for the supply of the baling machine from prospective suppliers, is now waiting on the file to be approved by the Salcete Block Development Office (BDO). The shed for the MRF is also ready but needs to be made operational before the deadline, said sources.
