MARGAO: The Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Curtorim has issued a notice to disconnect water connections for 195 members residing in the Ramnagri Co-operative Housing Society after they failed to stop their sewage from overflowing and polluting the surroundings, within the given deadline.
This action follows the show-cause notice issued to the housing society for the lapse. Angry villagers of Sao Jose de Areal have urged swift action against those responsible for openly discharging sewage and polluting the environment.

The health services notice states that a recent inspection revealed that the problem of sewage overflow still persists and has not been rectified as assured in the undertaking given by the Ramnagri Housing Society.
Previously, the PHC had issued a disconnection order on July 26. However, the housing society submitted an undertaking stating that they would resolve the sewage overflow issue by August 20 and requested the revocation of the disconnection order.
The notice further mentions that the Sao Jose de Areal Villagers Union has repeatedly followed up on the matter, informing authorities that the sewage overflow continues.
Freddy Travaso, a villager from Sao Jose de Areal, emphasised that the release of raw sewage from the housing society has created a public health nuisance.
He called for immediate action by authorities to address the problem and demanded that the Environment Minister also take note of the situation, as he regularly passes through the area.
