Action sought against K’taka, M’rashtra pvt vehicles operating at Mopa site

Jansanghatana claim most vehicles operating at the site are private including transportation trucks

MOPA: The Mopa Vimantal Panchkroshi Pidit Jansanghatana in an email addressed to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Transport Department has requested them to initiate action against private vehicles from Karnataka and Maharashtra for operating at Mopa airport site.

In the email, Jansanghatana’s secretary Baya Warak has called for an inspection of the Mopa Greenfield site and claimed that most vehicles operating at the site are private including transportation trucks which are hired by various companies on rental basis by changing the colour and number plates.

Warak said due to such activities, the land losers having taxis and trucks are not getting any business.

Warak said, “The government had assured the land losers that first preference will be given to them with regards to providing jobs and business. Most vehicles operating at the Mopa airport are from neighbouring States lacking proper fitness certificates, passing certificate and other RTO-related documents.”

Warak said, “As per Supreme Court order, the company cannot hire vehicles which are several years old. However, most vehicles operating at the airport site are around 20 years old.”

The jansanghatana has requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter at the earliest.
