In view of the increasing number of accidents taking place due to drunk and negligent driving, Social Activist Xencor Polji has demanded that the police should be vigilant and conduct alcohol tests to reduce the number of accident fatalities. After the tragedy at Zuari Bridge on July 28 where four people lost their lives and the recent accident on November 26 where a woman was killed after a car driven by a drunk driver rammed into her, Polji has stated that police should conduct tests every night and on weekends. But are there enough breath alcohol analyzers in the state?
Unfortunately, there are just 100 breath alcohol analyzers in the entire State of which 34 are currently non-functional for different but alarming lengths of time.
