Activist Dr Jorson criticises govt’s handling of MOI issue

MARGAO: In a strong statement, social activist Dr Jorson Fernandes has criticised the BJP government’s handling of the Medium of Instruction (MOI) issue and claimed they have pushed it forward because they want to stay in Power by showing the same carrot every time to fetch votes from the Catholics.

“BJP is exposed naked with their policy of empty promises and being communal and no different from the erstwhile Congress government vis-à-vis their empty promises.  Medium of Instruction is in the manifesto of the BJP to turn it into an Act,” said Dr Jorson in a press release issued on Sunday.
Dr Jorson further hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ policy at the national level as a square peg in the round hole.
“If our PM is going all over the world asking different companies to establish their shop here and to ‘Skill India’ then it is mandatory to understand that these multinationals will transact in an universal language and not the regional language. It is surprising to note that the BJP government in Goa is not towing the line of their National BJP and the reasons are best known to all. Powerless BJP wanting to stay in Power,” said Dr Jorson.
Criticising the priorities of the government, he said, instead of passing the MoI Bill during the Monsoon Session, they had a discussion on the road blockades by the FORCE. “If the BJP Government had the will they would have had the way to get the MoI Bill passed,” said Dr Jorson.
“Many are angry and making statements that the ‘FORCE’ should not have used the parents to block the roads, but then the thick skinned communal BJP understands only that language of blocked roads,” added Dr Jorson.
“Others have made statements on the citizenship of the parents; the way they behaved; the example they have set for their children to emulate” without examining their own conduct that is “callous” and “irresponsible”, he said.
“What examples will our legislators set for our children to emulate?” he asked,
